Czech President Miloš Zeman is likely to pay a visit to Azerbaijan, Colombia and Mexico this year, Czech Presidential Office foreign section head Hynek Kmoníček said, The Praguepost reported referring to the Czech News Agency.

President Zeman plans to go to Azerbaijan, the second-biggest oil importer to the Czech Republic, in mid-September, presidential spokesman Jiří Ovčáček confirmed this information.

The entire spectrum of relations between the two countries are planned to be discussed during the visit.

"The Czech government also pins hopes for increasing the number of the Czech companies in such fields as construction, mechanical engineering and transport infrastructure in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan's ambassador to the Czech Republic Farid Shafiyev told Trend earlier. "Several Czech companies show interest in Azerbaijan's transport sector, in particular, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project."

The ambassador said that the Czech companies operate in Azerbaijan.

"These companies are implementing the contracts worth nearly $1 billion in total," he said. The contract worth $300 million for the Baku-Guba highway construction has already been implemented."

The trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $637.9 million in 2014, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee said. The exports from Azerbaijan was carried out in the amount of $592 million, while import - $45.9 million.
