Action plan on cooperation of Azerbaijan with EC to be forwarded to Brussels

During the coming 10 days the official Baku will submit the Action Plan on cooperation of Azerbaijan with the European Union (EU) to the consideration of this institution, the head of the department of international economic relations of the Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry (FM) Ashraf Shihaliyev told the conference “Political Economy of Azerbaijan in significant period” on 14 October 2005, Trend reports.

According to the diplomat, Azerbaijan attaches especial importance to the development of links with Brussels, goes on active negotiations on joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well as develops regional energy projects.

Shihaliyev paid a special attention to the project of construction of the railway line Baku-Tbilisi- Ahalkalaki. “The project costing 400 million USD is of strategic importance for the region, it will enable to accelerate and considerably reduce the price of freight traffic in the Euro-Asian region”, the FM spokesman said, noting talks on involvement of China are underway.
