Another meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will start in Ashgabat on November 21, an informed source told Trend.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is expected to meet with distinguished guests as part of the meeting, a statement says.

The Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS countries resolves such issues as the adoption of joint development programs for industry, agriculture and other sectors of the economy and their financing; cooperation in tariffs, credit-fiscal and tax policy; aspects of interaction in the transport, communications, energy systems and others.

The Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS countries gathers twice a year. But the extraordinary meetings may be convened on the initiative of the government of one of the member states.

Previously, the CIS Executive Committee reported that about 20 draft documents will be considered during this meeting for. In particular, the course of the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement provisions will be analyzed.

The activity of the Intergovernmental Council for the Exploration, Use and Protection of Natural Resources in 2011-2013 will be assessed. The competition and price formation on the oil and oil product markets will be discussed. Moreover, some other issues in the field of energy and culture will be also discussed.

While referring to the permanent neutrality status, recognized and supported by the UN, Ashgabat made a decision on its participation in the CIS council as an associate member in 2005. Turkmenistan chaired the CIS in 2012 and held about 30 events.
