Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will hold negotiations with Turkmen leadership during his official visit to Turkmenistan scheduled for Dec.2, Kazakh presidency said on Nov.26.

Nazarbayev will attend the opening of the Uzen-Bereket-Gorgan railway on Dec.3, according to Kazakh presidency.

This railway will run through the territories of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran and will ensure the direct delivery of cargoes among these countries via the shortest route.

The implementation of this project on the basis of the trilateral agreement started in 2007.
Initially, up to 3-5 million metric tons of cargo will be transported via this railway per year, according to the preliminary forecasts and this volume will double in the future.

The project is being implemented with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank.

Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are also involved in a large project for the supply of Central Asian gas to China.

China's CNPC started the purchase of gas from Central Asia since 2009. Purchases began after the launch of the first two branches (A and B) of the gas pipeline running from Turkmenistan through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The third branch (C) of the pipeline along the same route was put into operation in June 2013.

During the intergovernmental meetings, Turkmen and Kazakh sides emphasized the need to increase the export and import operations and expand the range of goods and services, as well as the establishment of direct contacts between economic entities of the two countries.
