Highway maintenance companies may be created in Azerbaijan (PHOTO)

Azeravtoyol OJSC, railroad operator of Azerbaijan and the World Bank’s (WB) delegation discussed the creation of seven companies on highway maintenance in the country, Azeravtoyol said in a message Dec. 9.

Baku hosted a meeting of Azeravtoyol’s Head Saleh Mammadov with the WB delegation headed by Mustapha Benmaamar, head of the bank’s transport program on South Caucasus, according to the message.

During the meeting, such issues as the current state of WB projects’ financing in Azerbaijan, creation of seven companies on highway maintenance and steps to form material and technical base were discussed, said the message.

The sides also noted the importance of continuing bilateral cooperation, according to the message.

Azerbaijan joined the WB in 1992.
