Aktau port reduced oil cargo transshipment in 2014

Aktau International Sea Trade Port transshipped over 5.95 million metric tons of oil cargo in 2014, compared to over 6.28 million metric tons in 2013, a message posted on the port's website said on Jan. 6.

Part of the oil transshipped through the Aktau port is transported to Baku from where it is delivered to the Black Sea ports of Georgia via the railway.

Metal products accounted for 1,230 metric tons of the total volume of dry cargo transshipped by the port (over 4.3 million metric tons) in 2014, ferry cargo - nearly 2 million metric tons, grain - 686,000 metric tons, other cargoes - 431,000 metric tons, according to the message.

In total, the port transshipped 10.27 million metric tons of cargo in 2014, compared to 10.08 million metric tons in 2013. The number of ship calls at the port stood at 1,684 during the reporting period.
