Aktau port reduces transshipment of oil cargos

Aktau International Sea Trade Port transshipped 575,000 tons of oil cargo in January 1Q2016 as compared to 1.44 million tons in January-March 2015, said the port's message posted on its website Apr. 18.

Part of the oil shipped through the Aktau Port is transported to Baku, where by the railway comes to the Black Sea ports of Georgia, and is also transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline. Currently, Kazakhstan suspended the transportation of its oil via the BTC pipeline.

The port transshipped 822,000 tons of dry cargo in January-March 2016, said the message.

Some 317,000 tons of it accounted for metal products, 170,000 tons - for ferry cargos, 261,000 tons - for grain, 74,000 tons - for other cargoes, according to the message.

In total, Aktau port transshipped 5.9 million tons of cargos in 2015 versus 10.27 million tons in 2014.
