LUKOIL, SOCAR to discuss schedule & prospect of further development of D-222 project in Azeri section of Caspian Sea

In late 2005 the shareholders of the project on development of D-222 bloc in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea will hold a meeting to discuss the further plan and work schedule, sources at the project told Trend. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) possesses 20%, Russian LUKOIL вЂ" 80% (operator).

Azerbaijan side is not aware of exact date and place of the meeting. “The shareholders will attempt to determine the rig for drilling the well,” the source said.

Azerbaijani experts noted that the most effective mean for drilling might be Heydar Aliyev rig of Danish Maersk.

LUKOIL supposes to start drilling of the second development well on D-222 in 2007. The specialists hold date treatment.

LUKOIL did not revealed attractive hydrocarbon resources during drilling of development well on Yalama. The well with 4500 depth was drilled from Heydar Aliyev rig.

The agreement on exploration, development and division of the resources on D-222 was concluded on 3 July 1997.
