U.S.-AZERI JV COMMISSIONS NEW STATION IN NABRAN

The Azerbaijani-U.S. joint venture Catel (Caspian American Рўelecommunications, LLC) has commissioned a new telephone station in Nabran, east Azerbaijan. The new station will enable the company to render wireless telephone services in Nabran

In the prospect it is planned to carry out by-stage expansion of wireless telephone services in all regions of Azerbaijan. At the moment Catel delivers services in Baku, Ganja, Nabran, and Sumgayit.

In March 2005 Catel, which holds approximately 17,700 subscribers, also put into exploitation a new station in Baku. In February 2005 РЎatel received the first index of 418 for 10,000 numbers. Besides, the company currently possesses indexes of 447/448.

In 2004 the company commissioned around 3,000 numbers and invested over $4m.
