WHO increases dose of vaccine for Azerbaijan due to swine flu

World Health Organization (WHO) revised the dose of vaccine, which will be provided to Azerbaijan in connection with the prevention of the "swine flu", the deputy director of the Republican anti-plague station of Azerbaijan Shair Gurbanov said.

World Health Organization (WHO) revised the dose of vaccine, which will be provided to Azerbaijan in connection with the prevention of the "swine flu", the deputy director of the Republican anti-plague station of Azerbaijan Shair Gurbanov said.

"If formerly the WHO planned to provide Azerbaijan 170 dose vaccine that would provide vaccinations for two percent of the population, now the organization has declared readiness to allocate the dose for 10 percent of the population of Azerbaijan," said Gurbanov.

According to him, as stated earlier the vaccination will be held amongst those at risk, including doctors, customs officers and other persons who have direct contact with possible infected.
"Although the vaccine were to be sent to Azerbaijan in early December, due to administrative issues the delivery delays. But the vaccine will be exactly delivered," said Gurbanov.

Speaking about the reasons for delay in delivery of vaccines, Gurbanov said that, perhaps, WHO sends them to the country depending on the degree of threat of the spread of the virus.

14 infections with "swine flu" were recorded in Azerbaijan. All patients fully recovered.
