Kazakhstan's official registration as the host country for the EXPO- 2017 international exhibition will be held in June 2014, Secretary General of the International Exhibition Bureau Vicente Loscertales said at a briefing in Astana on March 14.
"We expect the registration process will be held in June," he said. "The flag delivery ceremony will be held as soon as EXPO- 2017 is officially registered and recognised."
Secretary General stressed that Kazakhstan will then be represented at all official offices at the International Exhibition Bureau.
Loscertales stressed that holding EXPO- 2017 exhibition in Astana is a strategic and geopolitical project for Kazakhstan.
"That's why this project must be national besides the announced theme 'Future Energy' which is relevant today," he said.
"Everything that will be built in Kazakhstan will remain in the country and also contribute towards its development," he added.
"We are working on the registration dossier of the exhibition," he added.
The Secretary General added that currently work on a master plan for EXPO- 2017 is underway.
"The Kazakh pavilion must not be only a thematic pavilion which will affect the new energy resources, but also reflect the culture, history and art of the country," he said. "Discussions on the concept of the Kazakh pavilion will be held soon."
