Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin have signed a protocol on exchange of instruments of ratification of the treaty on good neighborliness and alliance in the 21st century, Kazakh president's official website said.

The agreement was signed on Nov.11, 2013.

"During the meeting, the two presidents discussed the priority areas of bilateral cooperation, as well as the development of the Eurasian integration process," said the report.

Moreover, Nazarbayev and Putin exchanged views on the topical issues of the regional and international agenda, according to the president's website.

Kazakh president said that 15 years have passed since the first meeting.

"As a head of government you visited Almaty in 1999. Throughout these years you restored the power vertical in Russia as a result of which it has become quite a different country," Nazarbayev said.

"We signed a Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union in Astana in 2014. It will start functioning from 2015," said the president. "Despite all the vicissitudes, we should support this organization and make it viable and interesting for all."

Russian president, for his part, drew the attention to the key prospects for the bilateral relations between the two countries and the plans for the further deepening of integration.
