Iran’s pickup output increases by 39%

Iran produced 12,799 pickups in the 8th calendar month of the current Iranian calendar year (October 22-Nov. 22).

The figure shows a 38.8 percent increase compared to the same month of the previous year, the country's ISNA news agency reported Dec. 13.

The Islamic Republic's giant car maker Iran Khodro produced 7739 pickups in the period, 37.2 percent more year on year.

Bonro Company affiliated to Saipa, the country's second big carmaker produced 1658 pickups in the period, showing a huge increase by 542 percent.

Saipa itself produced 4385 pickups in the one-month period, 59.6 percent more compared to same month of last year.

Zamyad stood at third place with 2560 pickups. The company's output indicates an increase by 7.4 percent in comparison with the same month of preceding year.

Pars Khodro with 167, Diar Khodro with 140 and Bahman group with 535 pickups were Iran's other pickup manufacturers in the aforementioned month.

About 96,648 cars in total have been produced in Iran in the 8th calendar month of the current Iranian year (October 22-Nov. 22), 6,590 cars less than its preceding month.

Iran's total car output indicates fall for second successive month.

Sedan cars output stood at 82,505 in the mentioned month, some 5,161 care less than the preceding month.

Iran also produced 1,334 trucks in the mentioned period.

Some 722,325 cars have been produced in Iran during the first eight months of the current Iranian fiscal year ((March 21- Nov. 22), 69.8 percent more year on year. Sedan cars output stood at 612,818 in the mentioned period, some 69.7 percent more than previous year.

Iran produced 989,110 cars in 2012, which made the country Asia's eighth largest car manufacturer. Iran also stood at the world's 18th place in the mentioned year.

Iran's automobile output faced a 40 percent decrease in 2012 due to the sanctions. The country was Asia's fifth largest car manufacturer in 2011, with a total output of 1,648,505.

Western countries suspended certain sanctions against Iran as the Geneva nuclear deal came into force on January 20. Iran was permitted to import materials for its auto-manufacturing sector as a result of the nuclear deal implementation, which has led to a sharp increase in the country's auto exports in recent months.
