Inflation rate in Iran’s water, electricity, and fuel sector hits 30%

Inflation rate in Iran's water, electricity, and fuel sector hit 30 percent in the third Iranian fiscal month (May 22-June 21, 2015), the Statistical Center of Iran reported.

Prices of water, electricity, and fuel rose by 6.2 percent on average in the mentioned month, which equals a 30.1 percent rise in the inflation rate.

The inflation rates in transportation sector and in fruits sector were 21 percent and 20 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, the inflation rate in housing sector was 15 percent.

The inflation rate in red and chicken meat was 5.5 percent, and in fish and seafood was 15.2 percent.

The Statistical Center of Iran has announced that the inflation rate for the 12-month period ended the third Iranian calendar month of Khordad (May 22-June 21) compared to the same period in the previous year hit 14.2 percent, while the Central Bank of Iran has put the inflation rate at 15.6 percent.

Last month, the Iranian administration increased electricity, gas, and gasoline bills.
