Iran registered a new home record of oil export and tanker traffic as ten tankers docked at its largest oil terminal to load 9.2 million barrels of crude oil in one day, Pirouz Mousavi, Managing director of Iran Oil Terminals Company (IOTC), said, Mehr news agency reported.

On Aug. 29, nine oil tankers simultaneously docked at eastern and western ports of Kharg Oil terminal, while the tenth tanker also loaded crude oil via the ship-to-ship method, Mousavi said, adding through that export of 9.2 million barrels of crude oil was made possible.

About 8.2 million barrels of oil was loaded directly, meanwhile about one million barrel was loaded through ship-to-ship method, he said.

Last year in May, Iran exported seven million barrels of oil in a day - at the time, a 10-year record for the country.

Iran’s oil export stood at one mbpd when the country was under sanctions. The sanctions were lifted in January. By April, Iran reclaimed its pre-sanctions 2.3 mbpd export.

The country says it has suffered unfair treatment under the sanctions and is now entitled to making up for the loss.
