Iran’s gas-to-power surpasses 40 bcm in 200 days

Iran’s gas deliveries to power plants increased by 8.2 percent to 40.415 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 202 days of the current fiscal year (started on March 21).

According to the latest statistics of Energy Ministry, the gas oil and fuel oil consumption in power sector decreased by 56.9 percent and 57.9 percent to 1,012 million liters (ml) and 1,470 ml, respectively, during the mentioned period.

Iran consumed 57 bcm of gas in power sector the last fiscal year and plans to add 8 bcm to this volume in the current year.

During the 202 days, Iran generated 177,845 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity.

The country increased electricity imports by 9 percent to 2,533 million kWh, while its exports decreased by 26 percent to 4,335 million kWh during the mentioned period.

Iran’s power generation capacity also increased by 1,793 MW to 75,896 MW.

Iran plans to add 1,216 MW to this volume by March 20, 2017.
