The initial results of research conducted by the Institute of Tourism of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism in cooperation with the Department of International Marketing of University of Vienna in Austria in connection with Eurovision have been published.
The purpose of the study is analysis of the impact of the contest on the image and economy of the country, deputy rector of the Institute of Tourism Eldar Aslanov told Trend on Friday. The study was conducted in the run-up and during the contest among tourists who arrived in Azerbaijan, as well as among Europeans, who were unable to come to Azerbaijan, but got acquainted with our country through the European media.
Initial results showed that this contest has helped to create positive impressions about Azerbaijan in Europe. For tourists Azerbaijan, in particular, Baku, has become a new attractive tourist area. Publications that appeared in the media of the European countries have created an opportunity for a wider recognition of our country in Europe.
Aslanov said if earlier only a narrow circle of specialists knew about Azerbaijan in Europe, now a citizen of any European country knows Azerbaijan and Baku. The study showed the presence of a positive attitude of tourists to Azerbaijan.
Now a study is nearing completion. The public will be familiarized with the results of a study in late June - early July, Aslanov said.
It should be reminded that the 57th Eurovision Song Contest Eurovision was held in Baku in May.
