Ilham Aliyev inaugurates section of Gala-Pirallahi highway

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the second section of Gala-Pirallahi highway.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva have viewed the work done in Baku White City.

A 22.3 km-long road will be built under the project. The width of the road will change from 16 meters to 47 meters.

President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva then laid the foundation stone of Fountains Square Park, a pedestrian passage and a public parking complex.

The head of state and his wife viewed first settlements of Yashil Ada (Green Island) residential complex here.

Ilham Aliyev receives Iranian ICT minister

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Minister of Information and Communications Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Vaezi.

Azerbaijan, Iranian chamber of commerce sign MoU

The National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan (ASK) and the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) have signed a memorandum of understanding.

The signing took place within the framework of the Azerbaijani-Iranian business forum held in Baku.

In total, more than 200 entrepreneurs representing spheres of industry, agriculture, construction, food industry, pharmaceuticals, car construction, tourism, trade, insurance and others took part in the forum.

Speaking at the business forum, Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev noted that the economic relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are at a high level.

“According to the data for the first 11 months of this year, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Iran grew by 60 percent, which is a good indicator,” he said. “Iran can always use the services of our logistics center created in Aktau city, our technology parks and industrial districts.”

Azerbaijan, Iran to mull expansion of co-op in banking sphere

Azerbaijan intends to expand cooperation with Iran in banking sphere, said Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev.

Mustafayev made the remarks during the 11th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Iran intergovernmental commission on economic, trade and humanitarian cooperation in Baku.

The banking sphere is one of the most prospective directions for the expansion of the Azerbaijani-Iranian cooperation, said the minister.

Earlier, head of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Valiollah Seif told Trend that the central banks of Azerbaijan and Iran intend to open settlement accounts in line with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in August 2016.

“Economic opportunities of the two countries require us to significantly increase trade turnover, and the best and safest way of carrying out transactions is through the banking system,” said Seif.

He noted that under the MoU, central banks of Iran and Azerbaijan will stimulate the two countries’ commercial banks to establish relations through opening correspondent accounts.

Ilham Aliyev attends opening of "ASAN Kommunal" Center in Baku

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of "ASAN Kommunal" Center No1 and viewed “ASAN Qatar" (train) at Bilajari station in Baku.

The president commissioned the center.

Head of the Presidental Administration`s Department for Work with Law Enforcement Bodies Fuad Alasgarov and chairman of the State Agency for Public Services and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Inam Karimov informed the president about the conditions created in the center.

President Aliyev then familiarized himself with "ASAN Qatar".

"ASAN Qatar" will provide services to citizens in the country`s districts through using extensive railway network, current infrastructure, communication lines and advanced technologies.

SOFAZ mulls draft budget for 2017

A meeting of the Supervisory Board of the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) was held. SOFAZ’s draft budget for 2017 was discussed during the meeting chaired by Prime Minister of Azerbaijan and Chairman of SOFAZ Supervisory Board Mr. Artur Rasizade.

The Supervisory Board recommended the Fund's 2017 draft budget, including the major directions of its investment policy, and its draft annual operating expenditures for the approval by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Board members also discussed amendments to the “Rules on management of foreign currency assets of the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan” and “Rules on the preparation and execution of the annual program of revenues and expenditures (budget) of the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan” proposed by the Executive Director of the Fund and recommended the amendments for the approval by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Licenses of 3 Azerbaijani insurance companies revoked

Azerbaijan’s Financial Market Supervisory Authority has revoked licenses of three insurance companies – the International Insurance Company, Azerqarant Insurance and Buta Insurance, the company said in a message.
