An earthquake measuring 4.8-4.9 hit the South-Western coast of Issyk-Kul Lake yesterday, KyrTAG reported citing the international seismological centers.

According to the data received from European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the magnitude of the quake was 4.8. The earthquake took place at a depth of about 12 kilometers, in 68 kilometers to the southwest of Cholpon-Ata.

Seismological Experimental and Methodical Expedition under the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan also fixed the quake. According to Kazakh seismologists, the magnitude of the earthquake was 4.9 and the depth of the quake - 10 kilometers.

The earthquake was felt on the shore of Issyk-Kul, Bishkek and Almaty. No casualties or damages are reported as a result of the earthquake.
