Cevdet Selvi will replace Deniz Baykal in the post of the Leader of the Turkish opposition Republican People's Party (CHP).
Baykal resigned after the spread of the video about the sex scandal in the e-net, in which he was involved.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has rejected accusations of the Turkish government's involvement in the resignation of Baykal.
CHP Member Kamal Kilic Daroglu said that the party has similar video recordings compromising high-ranking officials of the ruling Justice and Development Party, the CNN Turk website reported with reference to the Hurriyet newspaper.
