Georgian rescuers lifted from the cleft the body of the Russian climber, who fell down while climbing to the top of Ushba in Georgia's mountainous Svaneti region, and took it to the Mestia district center.

Currently the Georgian side solves a number of issues related to the delivery of the remains to the homeland, the head of the Mestia administration Elijah Japaridze told Trend on Monday.

A group of Russian climbers from three people was ascending to the top of Ushba, following from Russia, that's why the local structures in Svaneti had no prior information about this climb. The fall of the Russian climber in the cleft occurred at an altitude of 3700 meters.

Rescuers learned about the death of the Russian climber on Saturday night and on Sunday began rescue operations, which ended late in the evening.

There is still a climber from Armenia on the top of Ushba who ascended alone. He got into the "mountain captive" because of the lack of equipment, and sought help to come down from the top. Due to adverse weather conditions and difficult places, the helicopter cannot fly up there.

Request for assistance from the Armenian climber was received on August 9.
