Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai will pay an official visit to Georgia on April 5-7.

The visit is of great significance for intensifying the cooperation with UNWTO and implementing the joint regional projects, the National Tourism Administration told Trend on April 4.

Rifai met with Georgian prime minister, minister of economy, other members of the government. He will also open the final conference on the protected area development project. This project was implemented under the auspices of the World Tourism Organization with the financial support from the German government and was aimed at developing the tourist infrastructure of protected areas and creating the new tourism products.

The WTO delegation will also include the European regional project coordinator Beka Jakeli. Georgian ambassador to Spain Zurab Pololikashvili will also arrive in Tbilisi as part of the visit.
