Germany is determined to intensify its efforts internationally to attain comprehensive peace in the Middle East, a senior German official was quoted by the state-run Petra news agency as saying Wednesday.
During a meeting with Jordan's Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, German Secretary of State Wolf-Ruthart Born stressed his country's keenness to realize stability and security in the Middle East based on the two-state solution, Xinhua reported.
At the meeting, Judeh stressed the need to intensify international efforts at this "critical stage" to jumpstart Palestinian-Israeli peace talks to end the decade-long conflict.
Judeh referred to remarks by King Abdullah II of Jordan that the continuation of the current situation undermines opportunities to create an independent and viable Palestinian state and is bound to lead to more violence in the region.
The Jordanian minister emphasized that resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and creating an independent Palestinian state is the key to realizing stability and security in the region and the way to address other issues in the Middle East.
