"Last week, during a working visit to Washington, I presented the strategy to our partners. Our U.S. partners supported it and promised to help in its implementation. Taking this opportunity, I would like to thank them on behalf of the ministry," Garibashvili said.

The main priorities of the Interior Ministry in 2013 are the de-politicization of the system, the protection of human rights, restructuring, accountability and transparency, anti-discrimination policies, the regulation of rules of conduct for police, the formation of public-oriented police officers, and so on. Furthermore, the strategy aims to identify the needs of the ministry in particular areas, define goals and develop the best ways to achieve them.

Garibashvili said, in this regard, the strategy highlights the following important areas: road and border security, the prevention of emergency situations and their efficient management, management of migration processes, the fight against drug trafficking, trafficking, corruption, terrorism and cybercrime, the provision of quality service, the improvement of educational programs and a deepening of international cooperation.
