The 12th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium opened in Tbilisi Nov. 24.
While speaking at the opening of the symposium, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stressed the importance of the information and communication technologies for the economy of Georgia.
He said that the development of the ICT sector is one of the priorities of the Georgian government.
"The information technologies contribute to further political, economic and social development of Georgia," Garibashvili said. "The rapid development of this strategically important sphere is one of the priorities of the country's government."
He said that the new technologies, innovations in the field of ICT will contribute to further economic development and competitiveness of Georgia's economy.
