As part of the current situation in Syria, Russia says that the long-term settlement in this country is possible only on the basis of the political process, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad, RIA Novosti reported.
"We believe that on the basis of the positive dynamics during the hostilities, the long-term settlement can be achieved through a political process with the participation of all political forces, ethnic and religious groups," President Putin said. "And finally, the Syrian people must have the last word."
