Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The investigator for special important affairs of the Investigation Department of Baku City Prosecutor's Office, Mahir Nagiyev, was arrested. He is accused of corruption and overstepping his authorities. According to 30 October decision of Nasimi District Court, Mahir Nagiyev was punished with three years in prison. According to 2 July order of the Prosecutor General, Nagiyev was dismissed from the prosecutor's bodies and deprived of his rank.
It was made clear during the investigation on Nagiyev's case that he took bribe from Baba Mahmudzade and Ehtiram Ahmadov, who were wishing to avoid the arrest.
The Department for Fighting against Corruption filed a criminal case against Nagiyev in compliance with the article 311.3.2 (taking repeat bribery) and 309.1 (overstepping authorities) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
