Ukraine, Kiev, 20 November / Trend , corr. Z.Novosvitskiy/Today's meeting of national coordinators of the GUAM member-countries will take place in a new building of the organization Secretariat. The building is based in the Maydan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) in Kiev.
"The opening ceremony for the building has not take place yet, but GUAM Secretariat subdivisions have already operating in the building. Today's meeting is held along the way, a source from GUAM Secretariat said to Trend .
"The meeting has not been opened yet. Now, participants of the meeting are in the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. Later, the representatives will go to the GUAM Secretariat's new building," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported to Trend .
The main issues of today's meeting are to prepare the meeting of GUAM member-countries Foreign Ministries. The meeting is expected to take place in Helsinki on 4 and 5 December.
Araz Azimov, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, represents Azerbaijan at the meeting.
Four post-Soviet republics; Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova, established the GUAM format in 1997 during a summit of presidents of European Union countries in Strasburg. In 1999, Uzbekistan joined the organization but left four years later. In 2006, at the first summit of the organization in Kiev a decision was made to announce GUAM as an international organization with a new name; Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM
