Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today stated that political relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary are also a powerful impetus for the development of economic ties.

"I am sure that today's business forum will also be important for the development of relations in the economic sphere," President Aliyev said during the talks between the Azerbaijani and Hungarian delegations following the one-on-one with Hungarian President Pal Schmitt.

"Once again, I greet you all. Welcome to Azerbaijan. This is the first visit of the Hungarian President to Azerbaijan. I believe the visit will be fruitful. Our bilateral relations successfully develop. We have already exchanged views about it. I am fully confident that your visit will be a valuable contribution to the development of these links. I believe that your visit will generally be successful and fruitful. Thus, the Hungarian-Azerbaijani relations will enter a new phase," Mr. Aliyev said.

President Schmitt thanked for the warm reception and expressed his satisfaction from his first visit to Azerbaijan. "We congratulate you on the 20th anniversary of restoration of independence of Azerbaijan. During this time, you have achieved great success. Europe, speaking about these successes, notes that European countries would need 100 years to achieve the same successes. I am very glad that you see Hungary as a strategic partner of Azerbaijan. Given Hungary's position in Europe, we can become your close partner, and we already are. In addition, our countries friendly and warmly treat each other. I think that in general, our countries have many prospects," he said.
