A meeting of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) working group on transport was held in Baku on Oct. 24, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan said in a message.

The meeting was attended by responsible representatives of relevant agencies of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria.

The event discussed a number of issues, such as the signing of memorandums of understanding on cooperation of the BSEC Member States in the field of transport, coordinating the development of the Black Sea Ring Highway, the development of shipping lanes, simplification of goods transportation methods and appointing transport representatives to the working group.

Moreover, the Memorandum of Understanding proposed by the Russian Federation on the development of multi-modal freight and passenger ferry lines in the BSEC member countries was also discussed.

In addition, the meeting considered the cooperation with international organizations.

In conclusion, a decision was made on the application of decisions, resolutions and recommendations by the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, and the meeting report was adopted.

The event will continue its work with a ministerial meeting tomorrow. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Mehmet Cahit Turhan will also attend the meeting, which will be chaired by Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramin Guluzade. Other countries will be represented at the level of deputy ministers.

The Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, which was founded in 1992, is an intergovernmental organization uniting 12 states of the Black Sea and Southern Balkans. The headquarters of the organization is located in Istanbul.

Azerbaijan assumed the BSEC chairmanship at the 38th meeting of the Organization's Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, which took place on June 27. Azerbaijan will chair the BSEC until December 2018.
