Volume of construction work increases by 22 percent in Azerbaijan for first six months

In January-June the volume of construction work in Azerbaijan increased by 22.3 percent compared to the same period of last year, the State Statistics Committee said.

The volume of construction work carried out by public companies, amounted to 29,4 percent of the total volume of work, private companies - 70.6 percent.

About 70.3 percent fall to the initial construction, reconstruction and expansion, 19.7 percent - major repairs, 5.7 percent - the current repair, 4.3 percent -  other construction work.

In January-May about 56,500 were people involved in the construction sector of Azerbaijan, nominal wages in the construction sector amounted to 497.3 manat, which is 10.7 percent more than in January-May 2009, including wages in state-owned companies amounted 348.9 manat (with a reduction of 5.7 percent), private companies - 653.9 manat (with growth at 27.6 percent).

Nominal wages in the large and medium-sized construction companies amounted to 530.2 manat. The level of wages in the construction of buildings increased by 17.2 percent to 539.1 manat, specialized construction - by 1.9 percent to 568.5 manat, civil construction declined by 6 percent to 309,2 manat.

On July 14, the official exchange rate is 0.8037 manat to $1.
