80 % of hotels in Azerbaijan are located in regions, the chief of staff of Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism Firuddin Agayev said at international conference 'Construction of bridges' in Baku.
"While the number of hotels didn't reach 300 5 years ago, today it amounts to 515. 80 % percent of the hotels are located in regions", Agayev said.
In his words, measures on development of tourism simultaneously improve employment in regions.
"For instance, the commission of 'Shahdag' tourism complex will create 5 thousand new workplaces", Agayev said.
According to Agayev, Azerbaijan is trying to demonstrate its tourism potential abroad. As of today, Azerbaijan has signed agreements in tourism field with 31 country.
"However, there are a number of problems, preventing development of this field in Azerbaijan.
These problems are not only global ( global warming, world economic crisis), but also local (Armenian Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict). Azerbaijan's occupied territories have great tourism potential. This problem also prevents development of regional tourism", Agayev added.
