There are plans to procure about 48,000 tons of potatoes as part of the state program on import substitution this year in the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.

It is planned to receive an average of 140 centners from each of 3,400 hectares planted with potatoes, the article says.

Recently, the area allotted in the Gurbansoltan-Edje district for the upcoming potato planting has been expanded by 200 hectares.

From 900 hectares of land it is planned to receive 12,600 tons of potatoes, which is almost 3,000 tons more than last year.

Local tenants believe that the soil and climatic conditions of the region are optimal for this crop.
