Georgia cuts knitwear exports to Turkey

Georgia exported 95.2 tons knitted goods to Turkey for a total amount of $3 million in January 2020, Trend reports referring to the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

On an annualized basis, Georgia reduced the export of knitwear by 24.3 tons.

In January 2019, 119.5 tons knitted goods totaling $2.2 million were exported from Georgia to Turkey.

In January 2020, Turkey exported 111.2 tons of made up articles, including dress patterns to Georgia for a total amount of $2.7 million.

On an annualized basis, Turkey decreased the export of made up articles, including dress patterns to Georgia by $80.4 tons. In January 2019, 191.6 tons of made up articles, including dress patterns were exported from Turkey to Georgia for a total of $2.9 million.

Turkey ranks first in Georgia’s commodity circulation.

In January 2020, total imports to Georgia from Turkey amounted to $97.2 million. In turn, Georgia exported goods worth $19.8 million to Turkey.

The foreign trade turnover of Georgia with Turkey in January 2020 exceeded $117 million, which is 13.3 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.

In January 2020, the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $882.5 million, 5.7 percent higher compared to the same month of 2019.

As reported, the exports equaled $262.6 million (10 percent higher), while the imports stood at $619.8 million (4 percent higher). The negative trade balance was $357.2 million.
