Kazakhstan decreases raw sulfur production volumes

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18

The volume of raw and unrefined sulfur output amounted to 1.3 million tons in Kazakhstan from January through April 2021, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The data said that this is a 6.1-percent decrease in comparison to the same period of 2020. This volume also includes sulfur extraction volumes.

In turn, the volume of sulfur output in Apr. 2021 stood at 331,700 tons, which is 3.9 percent less than in Apr. 2020.

The report also said that marble and limestone stone production amounted to 203,000 million tons over four months of 2021, which compared with the same period last year, is an increase of 47.3 percent.

In turn, marble and limestone production in Apr. amounted to 59,900 cubic meters, which is 4.4 percent more compared to Apr. 2020.

The production of granite, sandstone, and stone for monuments amounted to 2.1 million cubic meters from Jan. through Apr. 2021 and 573,800 cubic meters in April alone, which is 4.6 percent more and 9.6 percent less respectively than during the same period of last year.

Production of chalk and non-calcined dolomite amounted to 684,900 tons over four months and 176,400 tons in Apr. 2021, which is 10.3 percent and 10 .5 percent more than during the same period of last year.

The committee said that asbestos production amounted to 81,400 tons over four months of 2021 (an increase of 30.4 percent), while the production of salt, sodium chloride, and sea salt amounted to 223,020 tons, which is 14 percent more than during the same period of last year.
