BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) and its subsidiaries spent about 74 percent more money on mining explorations, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), an official of the IMIDRO Ahmad Fattahi said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

The official emphasized that more than 4.72 trillion rials (about $112 million) has been spent on mining explorations within last Iranian year. Meanwhile, in the preceding Iranian year, the figure stood at 2.71 trillion rials (about $64.6 million).

“Of this, 2.71 trillion rials (about $64.6 million) was spent by the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO), 1.67 trillion rials (about $39.8 million) – by the Iran Minerals Production and Supply Company (IMPASCO), 159 billion rials (about $3.78 million) – by Iran Alumina Company, 143 billion rials (about $3.4 million) – by the IMIDRO, 30.8 billion rials (about $733,000) – by Sangan Iron Ore Complex,” he said.

According to Fattahi, in connection with mining explorations, a total of 221,600 meters of excavations were carried out in the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 30 percent compared to preceding Iranian year. So, the figure was 169,800 meters in the preceding Iranian year.
