Turkey's energy ministry talks oil exploration drilling work

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31

The exploratory drilling work on searching for oil was carried out in Turkey in 2019, the country’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources told Trend.

During the year, 153 wells of various types were drilled with the total depth of 340,863 meters.

In the reporting period, 56 exploratory wells were drilled, the total depth of which reached 148,324 meters.

Seventy-three production and injection wells were drilled, with the total depth of 132,677 and 1,839 meters, respectively, said the ministry.

Furthermore, two exploration wells were drilled during the year, the total depth of which amounted to 2,807 meters.

In April 2014, a law that allowed oil exploration in forests and national parks came into force in Turkey.
