BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 24. Georgia’s imports of petroleum and petroleum oils from January through February 2022 increased by 94.4 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($83.6 million), and totaled $162.6 million, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The amount of the imported petroleum and petroleum oils in Georgia in February 2022 alone increased by 92 percent, compared to the same month of 2021 ($46.8 million), and by 23.6 percent, compared to January 2022 ($72.7 million), and totaled $89.9 million.

Meanwhile, Romania ranked first among main petroleum and petroleum oils exporters to Georgia in the reporting period of 2022. The amount of exports increased by 157.4 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($16.2 million), to $41.7 million.

Bulgaria is second on the list with $28.8 million worth of petroleum and petroleum oils exports to Georgia. The exports increased by 242.8 percent, compared to $8.4 million over the same period of 2021.

Azerbaijan ranked third among main petroleum and petroleum oils exporters to Georgia from January through February 2022 with $27.4 million, which is an increase of 106 percent, compared to $13.3 million over the same period of 2021.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports in the reporting period of 2022 totaled $1.7 billion – an increase of 47 percent, compared to $1.1 billion from January through February 2021, and 30.7 percent, compared to the period of 2020 ($1.3 billion).
