Bakcell, the first mobile operator in Azerbaijan, presented a 'Big check' in the amount of 45,000 AZN to SOS Children Villages. This check represents the donation of 45,000 AZN that was collected from Bakcell subscribers via the SMS campaign and from Bakcell partners via private donations to support SOS Children Villages' educational projects.
In July 2009, Bakcell, within its CSR program "Bakcell Stars", signed an agreement with SOS Children's Villages that included the creation of a children's choir where children take singing lessons with a professional teacher to develop their talents and potential. On September 20, Bakcell Stars organized a grand event with the children's choir performance. Following the event Bakcell conducted SMS campaign among Bakcell subscribers to support the expansion of the SOS Children Villages projects. Bakcell subscribers contributed 450 contours or 1 AZN by replying to the 1155 short code of the SMS campaign.
The check was presented to Gulara Humbatova, National Coordinator of SOS Children Villages in Azerbaijan at the presentation ceremony organized at school No 257. In the ceremony Ms. Ineke Botter said: "Bakcell Stars is very pleased to announce that AZN 45,000 was donated to the SOS Children's Villages projects thanks to Bakcell's subscribers and partners. This contribution will have a direct impact on the lives of children."
Ms. Gulara Humbatova, SOS Children Villages National Director said: "Children from SOS Villages are very thankful to the Bakcell subscribers and partners who supported the children's cause."
SOS Children's Villages is functioning in Azerbaijan since November 2000. 150 children deprived of parental care grow up in Baku and Ganja SOS Children's Villages at present. The organization's slogan is: "A loving home for every child".
