BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 19

By Fakhri Vakilov - Trend:

Swedish BPC Billet Group company will introduce an automated payment system in Uzbekistan’s capital of Tashkent public transport, Trend reports citing the Tashkent administration.

"From January 1, 2020, an automated fare payment system will be introduced in Tashkent's public transport. This system will be introduced in stages. If the first stage introduces monthly travel cards for automated payment, the second will introduce daily payment cards," the Tashkent administration said.

The new payment system is planned to be launched in cooperation with BPC Billet Group.

At the first stage, validators will be installed in 200 buses in Tashkent.

It will be possible to pay for travel in any form of transport in all cities of Uzbekistan by means of a contactless plastic card.

Four types of cards will be introduced: for pensioners, students, a discount card, as well as a common unified transport card. The fare will depend on the tariff set in a particular region and take into account benefits and discounts for different categories of passengers. It is planned that they will be with a photograph of the owner, and public service centers will issue them.
