Iran's cargo transit increases

TEHRAN, Iran, June 1. Iran's cargo transit volume has increased 43 percent in the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2022), said Amin Tarafo, the international corridors department director-general in the Ministry of Road and Urban Development, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Iran's transit volume has increased following the Ukraine conflict and the limitations on cargo transportation," he indicated.

He went on to say that the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is becoming an alternative route for cargo transit, especially for Eurasian countries.

According to the official, Iran has ongoing negotiations to launch regular shipping lines that would further increase transit.
