European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton will visit Tashkent to hold bilateral talks on Wednesday, Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
In Tashkent, Catherine Ashton will meet with Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov. It is also expected that Uzbek President Islam Karimov will receive Ashton.
Before arriving in Uzbekistan, Ashton will attend the ministerial meeting of the "EU - Central Asia", to be held in Bishkek on Tuesday.
At the meeting, representatives of countries of the Central Asia and the European Union will exchange views on the state and prospects of relations between regions, will discuss fulfillment of the EU strategy on Central Asia, as well as topical international and regional issues.
Previous meeting "EU - Central Asia" at the level of foreign ministers was held in Tashkent in April 2011.
The sides discussed the state and prospects of relations within fulfillment of the EU Strategy for a New Partnership with Central Asia, trade and economic cooperation and regional cooperation in the energy sector, environment, water resources, border security and fight against drug trafficking.
