Iran starts exporting steel products to Iraq through railroads

For the first time, Iran has exported a steel shipment to Iraq through railways, said Morteza Ali-Akbari, an official with the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways.

He said the Khorasan Steel Complex Company carried out the export, IRIB reported May 25.

The shipment included 19 wagons of various types of reinforcement steel, the official added.

Ali-Akbari said the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways and Khorasan Steel Complex Company agreed last month to load 10,000 tons of shipment in the Company and unload it in Shalamcheh, an Iranian town on the border with Iraq.

According to the agreement, the shipment will be delivered to Iraq by trucks, he added.
