( dpa ) - Thousands of Jordanians demonstrated throughout the country Friday to protest Israel's siege of the Gaza Strip.
About 5,000 people took part in a demonstration in downtown Amman, chanting slogans against Israel and the United States and backing the right of Palestinians refugees to return to their homes.
Similar protests were reported in other major cities notably Zarqa, Karak and Irbid.
Friday prayer leaders lashed out at Israel and the United States and criticized the "world's silence" towards the "collective punishment" imposed on about 1.5 million Gazans.
