Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) is recalling an estimated 298,439 vehicles in the United States because a transmission problem may cause unintended vehicle movement, Trend reported citing Xinhua.

According to a statement released by the Italian-American automaker on Friday, the recall covers Dodge Dart sedans from 2013 to 2016 with automatic transmissions.

FCA said an investigation discovered that certain cars are equipped with a cable bushing that may degrade after prolonged exposure to high ambient heat and humidity.

Should degradation occur, it may cause the shifter cable to come loose from the transmission. When a driver shifts to park or another gear, the gear may not change and the car is likely to roll away.

FCA said it is unaware of any related injuries or collisions, but it reminds car owners to shut off the engine and engage the parking brake before leaving the cars.

Dealers will replace the bushing free of charge.

The recall also affects 20,117 vehicles in Canada, 3,389 in Mexico and 874 in certain market outside North America.
