A report on juvenile justice to be developed in Azerbaijan

“The International Center of Child’s Rights will develop a report on juvenile justice (justice on underage children) in Azerbaijan,” Azerbaijani Ombudsman, Elmira Suleymanova, said in a meeting with Caroline Hamilton, the Director and Professor of the Essex University of London, the Ombudsman’s Office told Trend.

Underlining the efficiency on increase of social service in Azerbaijan, she noted the importance of transfer of children in orphanages, families, wide use of the experience in foreign countries.

The Ombudsman spoke about the work done in the country in the sphere of human rights, including the children’s rights. She informed about discussion of a juvenile justice in the country, underlined the importance of inclusion of the issue into the national legislation, conduct of enlightenment work. They noted the importance of implementation of a project on study of child’s rights in Azerbaijan jointly with UNICEF. Suleymanova also underlined the importance of boosting the attention towards the needy people, who suffer from serious diseases, as well as children deprived of parents �care, and those in incomplete families.
