Azerbaijan’s Ecology Ministry completed “Project for urgent ecological investments”

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan completed implementation of the “Project for urgent ecological investments”, funded by the World Bank, the Ministry told Trend. The project involves 4 components: reinstatement of the sturgeon’s newly hatched fish breeding by constructing of the new fish farming factory in Neftechala and establishment of the sustainable institutional and financial base for the factory’s future operation ($9,1 million), demonstrating of the technology and methods for mercury refinement by decontaminating of one heavily polluted site, construction of the polygone in Sumgayit on burial of radio-active wastes ($8 million), reducing of the existing contamination level on one on-shore oil field of the Apsheron peninsular ($5,1 million), ecological management ($1,4 million).

The Minister noted, all works on the project are completed and the documents on acceptance of the objects submitted to the state commission.
