The government of Kazakhstan decided to create a commission to investigate the causes of the crash of an Antonov An-2 plane in the country's Zhambyl region, Kazakh Investment and Development Ministry told Trend Jan. 21.

The Antonov An-2 is a single-engine biplane utility/agricultural aircraft.

"The commission is headed by the first deputy minister for investment and development, Zhenis Kasymbek," the ministry said.

The commission also includes vice minister of health and social development, Daulet Argandykov, the chief transport prosecutor, Ibrai Tleugaliyev, the representatives of the Interior Ministry, the regional authorities of Zhambyl, as well as other state bodies.

The ministry noted that the commission has started work to find out the causes of the crash.

According to the ministry, the AN-2 aircraft, with a registration number UP-A0314 and serial number 1G14970, was included to Kazakhstan's National Register on Aug. 28, 2009.

The plane was commissioned on Aug. 20, 1973, and was owned and operated by OLIMP AIR.

"The aircraft's certification examination was carried out by the inspectors of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Investment and Development Ministry of Kazakhstan in June 2014," the ministry said. "According to the examination, the plane was allowed to further conduct flights."

In addition, the ministry said the airworthiness certificate of the AN-2 aircraft was valid until June 10, 2015. The airline's certificate for performing aerial work was valid until Dec. 26, 2017.

The AN-2 aircraft crashed on Jan. 20 in Kazakhstan's Zhambyl region, resulting in death of three crew members and three passengers. One woman managed to survive.
