Turkmenistan and South Korea intend to sign a number of intergovernmental documents aimed at further strengthening of the legal framework of interstate cooperation.

The national TV channel, Altyn Asir, reported on April 3 that the documents would be signed following the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's visit, scheduled for April 11-14.

Reportedly, the bilateral summit talks are aimed to give a new momentum to building the mutually beneficial Turkmen-Korean cooperation, and to contribute to the strengthening of the traditional friendship bonds between the two countries and peoples.

Berdimuhamedov's previous visit to South Korea took place in November 2008. The South Korean President Park Geun-hye visited Turkmenistan in June 2014.

The trade between the two countries has in recent years increased from $200 million to $1.9 billion.

Such South Korean companies as LG International and Hyundai Engineering Co. LTD are successfully operating in Turkmenistan.
