IRIB to take lion share of Iran’s budget

Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) shares the highest amount of budget among the Iranian cultural bodies.

Based on the Iranian administration’s proposed draft budget for the coming fiscal year (to start March 2017), the IRIB will receive 15.98 trillion rials ($484 million), Mehr news agency reported.

Iran’s culture ministry stands next with a share of 11.8 trillion rials ($357.6 million) from the budget, followed by Iran's Islamic Development Organization (3.77 trillion rials), Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (2.85 trillion rials), Iran Public Libraries Foundation (1.42 trillion rials), National Library and Archives of Iran (1.14 trillion rials) and Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution (560 billion rials).

The income and spending of the government and its companies in the next year is projected to stand at $32.8 billion (10.85 quadrillion rials).

President Hassan Rouhani handed over his proposed draft budget bill to parliament on December 4.
